The College of Pharmacy in Al-Kharj, King Saud University (KSU) is a comprehensive institution of pharmacy education committed to excellence in teaching and scientific research, and professional services in areas unique to the practice of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. The professional education programs in College of Pharmacy have as their principal purpose the training of pharmacy practitioners who are ethical, caring, scientifically knowledgeable, and technically competent.
Pharmaceutical education in College of Pharmacy in Al-Kharj, KSU is responsible for preparing students to begin the practice of pharmacy as vital members of the health care team or to assume other roles where pharmacists' knowledge and skills are required. Pharmaceutical education will also prepare students to function as professionals and informed citizens in a changing health care environment. It is responsible for generating and disseminating new knowledge about pharmaceuticals and about the role of pharmaceuticals in the unique health care system of Saudi Arabia.
College of Pharmacy in Al-Kharj, King Saud University acknowledges pharmaceutical care as an evolving mode of pharmacy practice in which the pharmacist, in concert with other health professionals, takes an active role in making appropriate drug choices to the patient based on his case, by effecting distribution of medications to patients, and by assuming direct responsibilities to empower patients to achieve the desired outcomes of drug and related therapy. The professional program in pharmacy provides educational preparedness so as to enable the pharmacist to collaborate with other health professionals and to share in responsibility for the outcomes of drug and related therapy. The professional program in pharmacy also promotes the knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes, and values necessary to the aspect of pharmaceutical care directed toward the general practice of pharmacy in any setting. The philosophy of practice as well as the necessary professional attitudes and ethics, will nurture during the course of study. Moreover, the College insures the professional growth of students, including a positive outlook toward all aspects of pharmacy practice.
The faculty and professional staff are highly-qualified individuals with unique interests and backgrounds who are dedicated to educating pharmacy students according to internationally-renowned principles and practices of pharmaceutical care.
The program maintains a dynamic, challenging and comprehensive curriculum which provides: general education in the sciences and pharmaceutical sciences, clinical, and social sciences that are the basis for the pharmacist's professional roles and necessary research; experiences in developing communicative, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; a foundation in social, ethical, legal and economic issues involved in pharmacy and health care; and experiences in appropriate pharmacy practice settings and environments (e.g., community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, and the pharmaceutical industry). |
