The Governor of Al-Kharj Province toured a number of colleges of King Saud University Branch in Al-Kharj

His Royal Highness, Prince Abdul-Rahman Bin Nasser Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Al-Kharj Province, toured a number of colleges of King Saud University Branch in Al-Kharj on Tuesday (30/6/1430). He was received by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Othman, Director of King Saud University, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed El-Bekery, General Supervisor of the branch of King Saud University in Al-Kharj and the deans of faculties and a number of officials. During the tour he visited the College of Engineering at Al-Kharj and heard a presentation from Prof. Dr. Awad Kh. Al-Asmari, Dean of the College of Engineering, on development projects and programs being implemented in the college now and the requirements of projects to complete the rest of the educational programs and facilities support.

Opening Ceremony of the Gym, the Warehouse and the Faculty Members Office Building at the College of Engineering at Al-Kharj

Under the auspices of His Excellency, Professor Awad Kh. Al-Asmari, Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Kharj and His Excellency Dr. Khalid Al-Salem, Vice Dean of the College, the gym, the warehouse and the office building for the Faculty members of Engineering were opened on Monday, 16-5-1430 (11-05-2009) at one o'clock. The Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Kharj, Professor Awad Kh. Al-Asmari, has attended the International Conference of Computing in Engineering, Science and Informatics (ICC2009)

*       Professor Awad Kh. Al-Asmari, Dean of the College of Engineering at Al-Kharj, has attended the International Conference of COMPUTING in Engineering, Science and Informatics ICC2009) that is classified among the International Society Information (ISI). The conference was held in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., IEEE, under the sponsorship of a large number of companies from all over the world. Dr. Ashraf Abdel-Fattah Hassanein, Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, participated in the Mechanical Engineering conference, session # 73, held in Razizaw University, Poland.  He presented his research paper in the field of development of altaclep characteristics of the copper using nanotechnology under the title:

*          "Wear Characteristic of Exfoliated Graphite Nano Sheets/Copper Metal Matrix Composite"

Dr. Ashraf H. Abdel-Fattah, Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has participated in the activities of the fifth Saudi Technical Conference & Exhibition,  which was held from 14 to 17 Muharram 1430 at the King Faisal Hall. He presented a research paper in the field of nanotechnology under the title:

*          "Hot Pressed Electrospun PAN Nano Fibers: An Idea for Flexible Carbon Mat"

A scientific research that was submitted by Dr. Ashraf H. Abdel-Fattah, Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, with the participation of Professor Gregory Rutledge, Professor and Chairman, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of MIT, USA, was accepted in the field of development of carbon fiber and enhancing its chemical, mechanical and electrical characteristics. The research was funded by the Fulbright Association, U.S.A.   The paper has been published in the Journal of Materials Processing and Technology, Which is considered a very prestigious international journal.

The college of Engineering in Al-Kharj represented by Dr. Karim Gezzeh, Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department, participated in the activities of the Seventh Regular Meeting of the Heads of the municipalities of Riyadh Region (cities of entertainment and knowledge - human dimensions to build the cities of Saudi Arabia). The meetings were held from 14-15/03/1430 (20-21/03/2008) at Alseih city, Al-Kharj. Dr. Gezzeh presented a scientific paper titled:*           

*          ″The Dimensions of Knowledge and Recreation in Urban Planning: Concepts and Standards″

The College of Engineering in Al-Kharj represented by the Electrical Engineering   Department has equipped some of the students laboratories including: Laboratory of Electric Circuits - the Logical Design Lab - Laboratory Measurements - Electronics Lab) with the latest systems and technologies. There are also others labs that are being prepared and equipped to be opened in the near future. The new labs include laboratory of micro-processor - integrated circuit design - laboratory of computer networks – Laboratory of Communications - laboratory of electrical machines – Factory Control System – laboratory of electrical power – laboratory for senior students’ graduation projects).

The college has contributed in the emission of Engineer Raed Yousef, a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, to Britain to obtain Masters and Doctorate degrees.
