INDUSTRIAL OUTREACH

PLANNED INDUSTRIALS OUTREACH

The center will seek to maximize the impact of its research and to satisfy the missions of the CEREM and the goals of the Higher Education Ministry via interactions with industry. A highly effective set of programs for industrial outreach and knowledge transfer are envisioned:

  • Attract industrial collaboration to secure CEREM support and funding which are critical to the long-term institutionalization of the CEREM'’s science and engineering programs.

  • Work with industry as a solution provider for short term research project.

  • Facilitate the development of new technologies resulting from university-industry research partnerships through promotion, administrative support, and initiation of new relationships.

  • Optimize the flow of research results from the CEREM to industry and government.

PAST INDUSTRIALS OUTREACH EXPERIENCE

The college of engineering has extensive outreach program with industry and government agencies. The degree of collaboration ranges from simple test to overall design and planning. The outreach program activities can be summarized as follow:

  • Strategic studies for government and industrial agencies through King Abdullah Research and Consulting Institute.

  • Full or part time faculty leave for development of government or industrial agencies.

  • Collaborating with outside agencies and creating permanent interaction by creating research Chair as in the SABIC chair for polymers in the Chemical Engineering Department.

  • Soliciting funds with government and industrial agencies (SABIC, ARAMCO, KACST, MODA).

  • Quality control of industrial products through random testing.
