MEETING AND SYMPOSIA

PLANNED

• The Center will sponsor and organize scientific meetings in regular basis. Each meeting addresses an important and current scientific theme that is chosen because it either represents an important example of the relation between fundamental science and commercial opportunities or it provides a forum to consider new research project opportunities within the Center. The meetings will be organized by Center senior investigators and take one of two formats.

• The Center will sponsor and organize symposia constituting one-day meetings that address topics of industrial interest.

• The Center will sponsor and organize meetings in other formats, locally referred to as workshops, which run from one to several days and address substantial scientific issues in materials-related fields.

PAST EXPERIENCE

• The college has been hosting several workshops and organizing meetings in the field of materials. In 2003 and 2004 there were two workshops held at the department of chemical engineering about Materials Engineering and the second one was about corrosion and corrosion protection. Such activities are planned to continue.

• The college has organized the first Saudi Engineering Conference, a strong component of which was related to utilization of engineering materials.
